The Research and Development Team are responsible for:
- Researching new technologies.
- Evaluating them in the context of our systems.
- Determining how to integrate them into our systems.
- Overseeing the Operations Staff in making the necessary changes.
In most cases "new technologies" might be "new" in the context of the system they are being evaluated for rather than brand new.
In "determining how to integrate them into our systems", we naturally try to design systems with the end-user experience and ease of support in mind rather than letting the technology itself drive things.
It is not a linear process. There are loops around every stage involving end-users, support teams, application support teams, budget holders, project managers etc.
